Giotto di Bondone

This painting is called, "Madonna and Child", by Giotto di Bondone. Bondone was born in Italy, around 1266. This painting was painted for the church of the Ognissanti in Flourence. The painting was a large painting 325 x 204 cm and was painted with tempera paints on a canvas.               This painting bascially showed the Virgin Mary and Chriest Child sitting on her lap.
I, personally like this painting by Bondone, because of the way he made it look, like the texture and the colors he used was very good. I especially liked how he got the angels in the bottom corners, to show that they were being watch from guardian angels. What do you like about this painting? How does it effect you? What do you think the angels mean?

  1. Hello,
Did you knlow that tempera was dry pigment mixed with egg yolks? I painted one when I was in college. Giotto was the person who helped many burst into the Renaissance. Have a great vacation.
